Cosa significa “prendersi cura di sé”? Cosa si intende? Da che punto di vista? Come?
Per me curarsi è un’arte: nutrire corpo, mente e spirito dedicandosi tempo.
Che sia un aperitivo, una cena, un’ora di corsa, di shopping, di lettura o una passeggiata non ha importanza. Quello che conta nella relazione con me stessa è il tempo esclusivo senza interruzioni.
Io lo faccio con la corsa oppure uscendo a cena con amici. Sono entrambe situazioni energizzanti per me. Correre può sembrare cura fisica ma, per quanto mi riguarda, non ha nulla che vedere con il corpo in sé e per sé (io sono una pigra di indole, non ho mai messo un piede in palestra). Partendo da uno sforzo fisico, la corsa mi permette di tonificare l’umore. Mentre corro sto con me e solo con me. Mentre corro metto in fila i pensieri. Quando ho finito di correre mi è più facile perdonarmi gli errori, le mancanze e osservare con distacco le difficoltà. La lucidità che recupero correndo mi permette di essere onesta: se vuoi amarti non puoi prenderti in giro.
Il secondo modo in cui incanalo la cura per me stessa passa invece attraverso il corpo. Non parlo però di cura estetica. Parlo di prevenzione. Fare prevenzione è imparare il rispetto e imparare a conoscere e proteggere le proprie debolezze.
Non è facile per nessuno sottoporsi ogni anno a ecografie, mammografie e pap test. Ma negli anni ho capito che è una forma di amore. Prevenire è fare in modo di preservare il più possibile il tuo stato di salute e dunque di equilibrio. La vita scorre, la scienza e la medicina procedono. Quello che è possibile prevenire ora, non era possibile pensarlo 40 anni fa.
La prevenzione non è una scelta. È un dovere.
